What investors need to know.
- Royalty reform pending: a bill before Parliament would raise gold royalties from 3–5% to a price-linked sliding scale and shorten stability agreements. Cabinet approved it in July 2026; we model both regimes for you.
- Forest reserves closed: the regulation that allowed mining in forest reserves (L.I. 2462) has been revoked.
- Small-scale gold buying and export now runs through GoldBod; small-scale licences are reserved for Ghanaian citizens, so foreign capital enters through large-scale licences, JVs or services.
- Lithium is open: Ghana's first lithium mining lease was ratified in March 2026.
